Buddypress Links checks for frendship status of non logged in user resulting in a crash

Fatal error: Call to undefined function friends_check_friendship() in /home/content/s/a/l/salacd/html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress-links/bp-links-classes.php on line 649

In other words, When the user is not logged in, this line still checks for friendship status but doesn't seem to be able to handle the fact that the user is not logged in.
