Public Tab in User Profile

Description

I would say with Visibility introduced in BP 1.6.x «Public» is no longer the right name for that tab in user profile. End users are confused if they have privacy settings…

…should be something like «View» or whatever - but not «Public».

Good feedback, thanks. Anyone have any suggestion?

I suggest it should say [About] or [info]

About this, I'd like to suggest something.

WordPress profile syncing doesn't seem to work as it should. If you change your BuddyPress "name" field, it will reset both WP nickname and first_name to what you entered.

So I would suggest to leave the base profile on WordPress wp_users and user_meta table, letting BuddyPress change them. They are "first_name", "last_name", "nickname" and "bio".

This could be the "info" tab. Then, if the Community Admin want to add more fields, he could populate the xprofile table in the way BuddyPress already do, and choice a name to give the table.

On this scenario BuddyPress could be more integrated into WordPress.

I was looking at this ticket earlier and the tab name might need to be [View] In the admin bar the link is called view

I prefer "View".

I also prefer "View" is next to edit and it makes more sense after you edit the profile to press "View" to see how it looks. "About" it's widely used as a field (title).
