Description

We need to upgrade the packages we use, namely:

  • @wordpress/scripts
  • Remove node-sass. See #9253
  • Remove grunt-patch-wordpress (document its usage)
  • Support the latest version of node

In 14329:

NPM: Upgrade build tooling.

  • Replace node-sass and legacy patch/image tooling with supported packages.
  • Update the Node and npm requirements, regenerate build assets,
  • And use WordPress Core portable image optimization approach.
