I'm not sure if this is a great idea, but it might be nice to consider having an option to replace blog comments with an activity stream discussion. This could really add value in the feature as we revamp with emoji reactions, improved like/favouriting.
One idea is an embed, but we won't keep the site's themes styles from blog comments. But that might be okay for some sites. Another idea is to hack the Comments templating loop for a Post and inject our Activity Stream content into it -- and probably some JS to add emoji reactions, etc.

This might be a fun idea but it's not trivial to implement and we have other priorities. Closing for now based on lack of enthusiasm from other people.

Well, for somebody just entering the scene, this is interesting. Glad to see some recent activity on this topic.
I'd like to have one sync-free discussion system across the site. Each post would get it's automatic activity item on publish, which opens up the discussion - I think this is already working.
But on the singular post view, I'd like to display only the activity thread starting with that particular post publish activity ID. Is this possible right now?
Is it possible to get some details on what was determined to be non-trivial to move this forward?
I had a similar idea way back in #1419.
