Description
A field type "coordinate" that stores a location would be nice in the user profile of buddypress.
This could be solved in clicking into a (maybe google) map, setting a a marker to the clicked place and storing the coordinates together with all other profile data.
In the profile page view, a small map showing the stored location could be displayed for profile visitors.
This would be a great feature because other functions could work with these values for example to display usermaps, to implement a buddy search engine based on geodata (for example search with specified radius around a given coordinate) and so on...

I feel this would be better as 3rd-party plugin than BuddyPress core. Not everyone wants or needs any extra weight from a map API integration, and there are always API restrictions to keep in mind that are per-user.

We're closing this ticket because it has not received any contribution or comments for at least two years. We have decided that it is better to close tickets that are good ideas, which have not gotten (or are unlikely to get) contributions, rather than keep things open indefinitely.
