#4357 new enhancement

Merge BuddyPress & bbPress user profiles

At the moment despite the fact that bbPress and BuddyPress integrate nicely together, there are still separate profiles for each.

The standard BuddyPress member profile is made in /members/user/

However once bbPress is installed a further bbPress profile is made at /forums/users/user/

Is it possible to merge both?

Quite the confusing user experience.

BBP/BP integration isn't complete at the moment, so something along the lines of a merge will likely happen. Complete integration is set for the 1.7 release, and integration is the main purpose of the 1.7 release.

I agree that something needs to be done.

bbPress already adds a "Forums" section on a BP profile, so perhaps a simple redirect from /forums/users/USERNAME/ to BP's /members/USERNAME/forums would suffice? I think such a redirect option should live in bbPress though.

There are already some redirects in place. Do you know if that's being done by BuddyPress or bbPress?

I would say the party already doing redirects should be the one to finish the job.

BuddyPress profile needs a few more forum details. But, I agree, BuddyPress profile should over-ride bbPress profile.
