Sidebar login - Don't redirect to wp-login.php on error

Description
If you click the log in button without entering anything in username/password or make a mistake because you forgot your login information, you're being redirected to the WordPress login page.
I think it's way more userfriendly if you stayed on the same page and from there be prompted about the error. Just like if you make an error elsewhere on the community, your not being redirected to a different page.

I definitely think this is plugin territory; follow the recommendation I noted in comment 1.
Also, this issue only occurs with bp-default. With theme compatibility in 1.7, we will not have to worry about sidebar issues as those decisions will be up to the site admin and theme authors.
You could get rid of the login block used in the bp-default theme and try an AJAX login widget instead like:
