Description
With the elimination of the "Wire" in forthcoming BP 1.2, existing communities will potentially lose a great deal of community activity that has been taking place on the Wire of groups and profiles up until this time.
I'm not sure how this data could be salvaged, but it's worth thinking about.

Any data in the wire is already recorded on the activity stream and will still show in 1.2 as an "update". So even if the wire is removed and the database dropped, you will not lose any data.
