message "you successfully joined the group" applied to non-joined groups

Try this:

• Visit /groups
• Select a group to join from the group directory, and click the button "join group."
• Now click on the title of another group.
• Notice how you're on the page for the other group, but you still see the message "You successfully joined the group," even though you haven't joined this group at all, but another one.

In general, I think users should never see both the message "You successfully joined this group" *and* the button "Join group," because those are conflicting messages.

I can't recreate. We also don't have a "Your group email status" screen.
I suspect this problem is part of theme customisation or a third-party plugin.
