associated with the wrong components/features

I don't think any of them are wrong, but yes, they are old and should be updated.

Apologies, I should have qualified the statement. Some images are associated with the wrong description or vice versa e.g. Extensible Groups image associated with User Settings description or Friend Connections image associated Extedsible Groups description.

Patch coming up.

Nice patch mercime ;)

Just a few thoughts:

  • i think i'd say 'customize their "email" notification settings', as screen notifications should always show if the component is active.
  • About site tracking, it can be activated on a non multisite to track posts and comments in activity stream, so i think the description order may be best if reversed like : "Track posts and comments in the activity stream, and allow your users to add their own blogs using WordPress's Multisite feature."

Sorry my english is bad :(

@imath Thank you for your feedback and your English is fine :)

Attached patch is based on your notes above with a small change on the tracking. Will also be uploading screenshots of the site tracking feature in both samples.

readme looks great to me.
About screenshots i like sample 1, there's just a little problem with my firstname in the Friend connections one it takes only on "t"

  • Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to 2.0.1

These are good ideas but aren't super urgent. If they're ready and committed before 2.0.1, I don't see why we can't add this change in.

Thanks imath and Paul. :) All of the images above have individual PSD's ready to be saved as .png, .jpg or .gif - what is preferred file type and the first layout or second.

Going to ping karmatosed for additional feedback/suggestions.

I'd be happy to take a look at the psd's. There are a number of things I would suggest we do differently so happy to suggest alternatives. Can you share the psd's?

#12 @mercime

Thanks karmatosed. 16 PSD's sent via email.

As this is primarily related to the screenshots page on wp.org, where we can update that readme and the screenshots outside of a regular release, i'm moving this to 2.1 to help focus the 2.0.1 on the critical stuff.

This is definitely a worthy ticket, and thanks for the contributions and patches so far; it'll be nice to spruce up the readme and the screenshots as many users check those out before deciding to try a plugin. :)

I have two possible options. My goal is to make something that's a little more subtle but can be reused. I have chosen to use Arial as the font so anyone (in theory) can make these. We can put the psd somewhere everyone has access to. I'm thinking maybe set up a Github for BuddyPress graphic materials?

They are full width so they will look nice and high impact. They also are retina.

  1. We have the title over them and use this as a template.

  1. We just have simple images. We already say what they are under the images so this actually is a simpler option but would work. It saves duplication and also makes for clean, simple images.

Are we happy with Tammie's first design for the screenshos (the one with the black bar)?

Black bar version is fine with me.

Just noting that I will work on these over the weekend and post up.

Seeing as this ticket also includes changes to readme.txt the changes in r8957 relate here.

In r8957 the link to the BuddyPress Showcase was removed:
Take a look at some of the best sites on the http://buddypress.org/showcase/

I'd suggest adding that back, though with this URL http://wordpress.org/showcase/flavor/buddypress/

In the languages section I'd also suggest some verbiage regarding automatic translation updates:

"If BuddyPress has been 100% translated in your language for the current release translations will be available to install automatically via WordPress' update functionality."

I've now added the template here:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/attachment/ticket/5568/template.psd

Also each image is now up there also.

In 8962:

Update screenshots section of readme.txt

New screenshots are being directly added to the plugins SVN inside the assets folder.
We need to update the readme.txt to show all of the new screenshots on WordPress.org.

See #5568

See also:

https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/971717/buddypress
https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/971718/buddypress

Images should be live on https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress/screenshots/ soon. I'm not sure which readme.txt WordPress.org is reading from, we may need to update the readme.txt in tags/2.0.2 if the change in https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/971718/buddypress doesn't show up later.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

I think this is done (or at least should be once the 2.1 readme is in the active version on wp.org); marking as resolved.
