Description
I see a bunch of resolved tickets where private activities were showing in the activity stream of all users. I fear that in resolving this issue you have removed the visibility of private group activities to members of that group. Not having this has a big negative impact to use of private groups since people will not see what is happening in the private group from the site activity stream (which I have at the root of my site). I appreciate any response to this request. Thank you!

I second this. Will it be in the next release ?
(Sorry to comment here, but I have been looking all over for a solution only to end my search here. It would be extremely useful for a user to see all the group messages of all groups which he is a member of. To better understand why : this would be a great feature : in twitter you will see all the tweets of a private user if he accepted your Follow request, and in Facebook, private groups will show up in your activity stream alongside public groups. A single activity loop could then be custom to each user )

We're closing this ticket because it has not received any contribution or comments for at least two years. We have decided that it is better to close tickets that are good ideas, which have not gotten (or are unlikely to get) contributions, rather than keep things open indefinitely. This will help us share a more realistic roadmap for BuddyPress with you.
Everyone very much appreciates the time and effort that you spent sharing your idea with us. On behalf of the entire BuddyPress team, thank you.
If you feel strongly that this enhancement should still be added to BuddyPress, and you are able to contribute effort towards it, we encourage you to re-open the ticket, or start a discussion about it in our Slack channel. Please consider that time has proven that good ideas without contributions do not get built.

It has always been the case that private group activity is hidden from sitewide activity streams. This is not a recent change.
There is a My Groups tab on the Activity directory that allows logged-in users to see all their groups' activity, including that from private groups.
The necessary modifications for displaying private activity on the sitewide stream are very extensive. See #3857. However, I'll leave this ticket open as a specific request related to #3857.
