1 Click Buddypress Group Creation

Description
At the moment on my install I have 7 clicks to create a group (starting on the groups directory page).
BP Group Organizer plugin has managed to get 1 click group creation working from the backend.
I have been advised by a developer to wait as the BP Dev team will be conducting heavy developments on Buddypress Groups in general... Is there actually trac numbers for this? I can't find them.
Is my dev just stalling?

The only ticket I can think of is #3717.
I personally would very much like to rethink the way that group creation happens, but there are no immediate plans to do so in BuddyPress itself. Your developer should go ahead and build something (and if it's good, submit it as a patch!)
