Description

Edit Profile Screen right now has buttons to change between profile edit groups.
I think there might be a better way to do this. Here are some options what it might look like.

  • Cc djpaul karmatosed added

I think this looks pretty great, but I would like to ask about the status of bp-legacy stuff before we do too much modification - I don't know how this will change with turtleshell. Adding djpaul and karmatosed for feedback.

If turtleshell happens the menu is planned on being to the side in a sidebar. So, that would change this quite a bit beyond the suggestion. It does all depend on when or if turtleshell goes into core though.

For reference what we are working on from the UI's for members profiles so far is:

I think the current plan is that a sub menu would go under the main one to the side.

Hi karmatosed

Yeah I think that would make lots more sense. If the navigation is vertical instead of horizontal. Is there a ticket for this? UI is it planed for 1.7?

Hi enej, there is no ticket for this as it's currently being explored in https://github.com/paulgibbs/turtleshell. However, it's not yet decided if this is going into core or if that happens when. If it was/when it is there would be a ticket/tickets.

There was on the dev blog some work done on UI's the past few months which Turtleshell is a developed from.

http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/ui-update/

Contributions to both Turtleshell and the UI work is welcome as both open to anyone to jump in to help.

I don't know if we want to change BP-Legacy, or to what extent. It needs touching up in places, but I don't think anyone's discussed whether that extends to changing a menu like that. I've never liked what we have for this particular screen in BP-Default, so I'm also fairly happy about this suggestion.

Navigation menus are proving very challenging to build (well) into a new template pack (Turtleshell); the current menus are pretty efficient with the amount of content they have, and space. That's one of the things we're working on right now.

I'll put together some samples of the types of menu and placement that turtleshell has tried/considered for feedback on bpdevel later. Help would be much appreciated.

We need to decide on the scope of any changes we want to make to Legacy beyond simple fixes and adaptions. Let's discuss in dev chat next week.

  • Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to 1.7

  • Component changed from Core to Theme
  • Milestone changed from 1.7 to 1.8

Probably not worth adding this to bp-legacy yet. Let's keep it close to bp-default, until we release 1.7.

  • Milestone changed from 1.8 to Future Release

See perhaps #4952.

  • Component changed from Appearance - Template Parts to Templates

  • Milestone Future Release deleted
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Closing this as we don't support bp-default theme anymore. Also, per screenshot attached, we're showing all the profile fields/groups in one screen now.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
