Description
This can be replicated in a number of themes:
- Twenty Ten theme without BuddyPress: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0bfffou95
- Twenty Ten theme with BuddyPress: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0d0ffow98
Seems BuddyPress is causing the backslashes.

- Keywords needs-testing reporter-feedback added
- Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to 1.6.2
We should investigate to see if this occurs in the 1.6 branch.
Steve, are those anonymous comments (i.e. not logged in) or made by a logged in user?

I've done some testing - only seems to happen for logged in users. Anonymous commenters don't do it.
I've had two other people confirm all the behaviour in this ticket that I'm seeing.
Using the latest version of BuddyPress, Wordpress and Twenty Eleven (though it does happen with other themes).

Confirmed. This is a problem introduced by an ancient BuddyPress filter that I didn't know existed until today. Fix coming up.
No BuddyPress, commas/quotes are fine.
