Description

My buddy press templates (BP Columns 1.5.3, BuddyPress Default 1.5.2, and BuddyPress Widget Theme 1.5) all revert to a “list” style navigation menu when I apply a custom menu to the navigation bar (from appearance –> menu). If I leave the custom navigation menu as null, the nice tabs come back. I appreciate help troubleshooting this!

This sounds like a problem with the BP Columns theme.

Since the theme is no longer supported, I'd suggest creating your ​own child theme and creating your own front page with columns.
