Description

All of a sudden... Any new uploaded avatar image won't display and just just shows the words... "profile picture for username". I just started running an ad for the site 30 min ago and I can't stand the thought of people seeing that in place of an avatar. All existing images are fine... this problem is only with new uploads.

I can delete the avatar and it takes away the text... but the theres no avatar.

If it suddenly stopped working, then it's probably either a problem with your connection to Gravatar, or a configuration setting on your site. Either way, this is not a BuddyPress core bug. Unless you discover something specific in BuddyPress itself causing your problem, please keep discussion of your issue to the forums: http://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/emergency-new-avatar-images/

Yeah the forums have been a lot of help! I guess I don't know what "core" means... Not having a problem with gravatars, just user submitted avatars in BUDDYPRESS.

After doing some reading this is a core problem. The avatars are uploaded and thumbnailed and in the wp-content/uploads folder but do not display.

I can't reproduce the issue on any of my installations. Without steps to reproduce, I have to assume that it's a problem unique to your combination of plugins, theme, and hosting environment.

This turned out to be a permissions problem, not a problem with BP. See the linked support forum topic.
