#3492 closed defect (bug) (no action required)

mention_explain message shouldn't display if the activities component is disabled

Description

The message that explains the userid when looking at a member's profile talks about sending the member a message when you use @username in a message. I'm pretty sure this only actually happens if the activities component is enabled. The message should be hidden, or worded differently, if the component is disabled. (Actually, there's a case for not displaying the userid in this case - is there any other use for it?)

The message is defined in functions.php, at around line 33.

You're correct that the feature is dependant on the activity component. We've actually removed that entire message from BuddyPress 1.5; check out http://testbp.org/members/djpaul/
