Outbound links should open in new tabs

While up to debate, standard web developers make inbound links open in the same tab, while outbound links open up in new tabs.

Currently, the BuddyPress activity stream treats all links as the same, but this should be changed.

As you say, this is debatable. I personally disagree. We'd have to add special code to detect an outbound vs inbound link, which seems a bit over-the-top. You could also take this link and put it on the WP Core trac which make it non-BuddyPress specific (I don't think this would be specific to the Activity Stream).

I think this is theme/plugin territory, RE: ​http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/open-in-new-window-plugin/. Leaving open for second opinion.

I agree with Paul. Control over browser windows/tabs should remain in the hands of the individual browser. It's one thing if individual site admins want to implement this on their own sites with a plugin, but making it part of BP core would spread what is IMO a bad practice.

If anyone vigorously disagrees, please feel free to reopen the ticket for discussion.

Ok, I'm not too choosy. It's not killer and there are available plugins so I'll be cool with it as it is.
