installing bbpress

Description
Hi I cannot get bbpress to work with buddypress
On trying to install you get this message:
A configuration file could not be created. No problem, but you will need to save the text shown below into a file named bb-config.php in the root directory of your WordPress installation before you can start using the forum functionality.
I do this but the same error keeps coming up, but bbpress is installed and working I can see it and log on to it but it mentions a divide by zero error when logging in.
I try to use the second option of putting in the path to an existing bbpress installation but it can never find the bb-config.php file even though its there
