site admin not viewable in dashboard

Description

I have installed wordpess 2.9.2, and uploaded and activated the buddypress plugin, however cannot view site admin in dashboard, as want to create more user profile fields

Since you are using wordpress you won't see site admin. Site admin is available in wordpress Mu not wordpress.
To create profile fields, go to BuddyPress->Profile field setup.
