Description
Several users have reported the same issue with User Avatars and Group Avatars since around the time v1.2.3 was released. This is apparent on both WP and WP MU installations. Users have posted multiple configurations, and have even gone as far as returning to the default theme and deactivating all plugins and the problem still persist.

Andy and I spent some time on this at WordCamp San Fran, and this appears to be fixed in the branch for 1.2.4 already.
