Widgets only working inside a DIV with id="sidebar"

Trying to make my new theme with more widgets columns but widgets will only work inside a named "sidebar" so i can't put my widget on the footer for exemple..

MY BAD''' i had a CSS saying: #footer img { display: none; }

Really sorry for the wrong ticket! I'm getting crazy here.... :P
