Description

In the previous default theme we had some featured content which I think was nice. I think this is a missing part in the new 1.2 theme.

Id like to see some of the content being marked as featured automatically and some that can be set as featured by the admin.

Content like:

  • Featured Groups
  • Featured Forum Topics
  • Featured Blogs

There should be a sets of rules in the system for it to decide when a certain content should be featured or not.
The admin however can pick any content and mark it as featured. (staff-picks).

I think the layout of all featured content should be a bit different from the non-featured content. It should be somehow pulled out and presented more elegant to attract some extra attention.

I second this... perhaps based on the number of favourites, making it an automatic digg-like site. This should ideally be optional, though.
In addition to the above, featured statuses, too...

  • Keywords dev-feedback added

This seems more like an area for a plugin. There should be enough hooks and filters to make this viable. Adding needed hooks and filters is much easier and desirable than trying to maintain a feature this large for a small subset of users.

I agree with cnorris23. This is really plugin/theme territory. If you need extra hooks or filters, please file another ticket.
