#1943 closed defect (bug) (no action required)

Articles with visibility "Private" are "not found" instead of noted as private

Description

In BP, if a Wordpress article visibility is set to Private so only site members can see it, its message for non-users is misleading.

It will say "Page Not Found. The page you were looking for was not found."

Is there a way to have it tell the user the page exists but they must login or join the site to see it? Private articles should be indicated as private, and pages that don't exist should retain this message.

  • Keywords invalid WordPress-issue added
  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

This is the normal WordPress behavior so the BuddyPress theme can't handle it any other way. Please post a ticket at http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ if you think this issue should be further addressed.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
