Description

http://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-forums-vs-bbpress-clarification-request?replies=1#post-24641 summarizes this question, which is probably best answered under the BuddyPress about link.

In http://buddypress.org/about/ there are several mentions about bbpress which are very confusing. This seems to be a documentation defect because trying to figure this out has taken days now and I'm no closer.

Please update the about page to clarify if...

1) bbpress is a separate product which requires to be installed to implement forums and forums for groups

2) if bbpress will always require to be installed to implement this function

3) if BuddyPress Forums replaces bbpress

Think about someone new considering an experiment with BuddyPress (like me) and clarify this.

Thanks.

1) bbPress is a separate product but it automatically included in the upcoming version 1.1 of BuddyPress. You do not need to download and set up bbPress separately.

2) Yes it is required, but you do not need to be concerned with it.

3) You can still install bbPress standalone and use it, and even integrate it with BuddyPress. This will be significantly harder though.

I will update the docs.

So to be clear bbpress and BuddyPress Forums are two different products?
