pagination:

when having a long list of pages, then a simple drop-down-field would help users to easily navigate through pages (do not have to click through many pages).

Paging for what? Activity has a load more button. This could also be implemented in a custom theme if required.

A dropdown box is not an UI enhancement here. You could always do this in a child theme, of course.
